How children can make friends at School

Children today have such hectic schedules. Morning starts with packed schedule before school, returning from school only to drop their bags and run to a coaching class and then grab a snack before starting music class etc. Owing to the rat race, children now have little to no time to enjoy the other very important aspects of life. They hardly have time for parents, family, and most importantly, friends. Children moving to new schools often face difficulty in making new friends. Being the best CBSE School in South 24 parganas, we believe, being surrounded by peers is very important for children’s holistic development. We have some tips we believe would be very helpful to help children make friends at School.

Make conversation

Ensure that your child is comfortable with conversing with others. Guide your child by asking them to make small talk and start conversations to break the ice when they are in company of strangers. If you notice that your child has issues conversing with anyone or talking to strangers, they might be suffering from anxiety or fear of conversations. If you notice such issues, work on building your child’s trust with other children.

Practice what you preach

We all know that children learn from elders. As the best CBSE School in South 24 parganas, we believe as parents, you need to be role models and set good example for your child. Make sure you always interact with people properly as your child will be learning by watching the nuances of making conversation.

Invite them home

We recommend parents to visit the child’s school when the session begins and get to know some children of their class and their parents. It would be great to invite some of them to your home. As your home is known territory for your child, he/she might feel more comfortable connecting with peers there. Celebrating birthdays together, group studies or just grabbing a quick bite to eat post school can prove to be opportunities for you to help your child get closer to his peers at school and befriend them.

No comparison

Each child is unique. Make sure you never compare your child with others. As the best CBSE School in South 24 parganas, we believe, comparisons related to academic results and other achievements should be a strict no-no for parents. If you compare your child with others in their class, they might start feeling resentment which would in turn lower the chances of your child making new friends and connecting with others at school.

As the best CBSE School in South 24 parganas, we try to help our students connect with their peers and pair them up for different activities to encourage them to connect and forge ever lasting friendships.
